What does a structural warranty cover?
A structural warranty is a 10-year insurance policy covering major structural defects in a new or converted building — typically foundation failure, load-bearing walls, roof structure and waterproofing. Most policies start with a 2-year defects period for builder snagging. Wear and tear, cosmetic issues and defects you knew about when buying are not covered. Terms vary by provider, so always read the policy document.
